A garage door is the largest moving thing in most homes, and when it stops behaving it usually does so at the worst moment: car inside, appointment in twenty minutes, or the door stuck half open at night. We repair every common residential door on the southern Gold Coast, from Burleigh to Coolangatta and inland to Mudgeeraba and Bonogin.
Most faults come down to a handful of parts: springs, cables, rollers, hinges, tracks and the opener. Our van carries all of them, so the visit where we find the problem is usually the visit where we fix it.
When to call us
- The door jams, judders or stops partway
- It drops quickly instead of settling gently
- One side sits lower than the other
- It grinds, squeals or bangs as it moves
- The opener runs but the door barely moves
How we do it
- Check the whole doorWe inspect springs, cables, drums, rollers, hinges, tracks and the opener, not only the part that seems broken.
- Explain and price itYou hear what failed and why, and you get a written price before we touch a spanner.
- Repair from the vanMost parts are on board, so most repairs are finished on the same visit.
- Balance and testWe balance the door, set the opener and run full cycles, including the safety reverse.
Near the beach?
Close to the beach, salt speeds up wear on rollers and hinges, so a door that's started to stick near the coast is often telling you about corrosion. We swap seized parts for stainless or galvanised versions where they're available.
Garage door repairs questions
Can you repair my door today?
Often, yes. We work 8am to 9pm every day. Call 07 5620 3493 and we'll give you a time.
Do you charge to look at the door?
We'll tell you the call-out cost on the phone before we come, and give you a written price for the repair before we start it.
Should I keep using a door that's playing up?
If it's only noisy, it's usually fine in the short term. If it's crooked, dropping or very heavy, leave it closed and keep clear until we've looked at it.
What's your door doing?
Pick the closest match for the likely cause, whether it's safe to use, and the usual fix.
Won't open or close
Check the power point and the remote battery first. If the motor runs but the door doesn't move, a spring or cable has probably failed.
- Right now
- Don't force it open by hand.
- Usual fix
- Spring, cable or motor repair, usually on the first visit.
